Description:  Support the structured learning center for the school.  Working under the direction of the special education teacher to provide direct specialized instruction individually and in small groups.  Supporting students with vocational, social and instructional activities who are in need of support as outlined in their IEP.

Requirements:  Two years of college, associate’s degree or passing score on a para-professional exam in reading, writing and math as required by federal law.  Experience working with students in a school setting.  Understanding of various disabilities. Must be able to: (1) become MANDT certified; (2) assist in positioning of students; (3) follow prescribed medical, feeding and emergency protocols; and (4) work independently and maintain positive relationships with staff, specialists, students, and parents. Employment contingent upon fingerprinting.

Qualifications Desired:    Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills strongly desired, flexible, and willing to do a variety of jobs. Relates well to students and staff.  Experience with students with a learning disability.  Flexible, adaptable and organized.

Classification/Location:  Classified, Regular, Part-Time Position

Calendar/Benefits:  3.5 hours per day; 184 days per year when school is in session.
