Description: Provide academic and behavioral support to special education students as directed by the Special Education teacher. Assist with clerical duties of the supervising teacher.
Requirements: Two years of college, associate’s degree or passing score on a para-professional exam in reading, writing and math as required by federal law. Experience working with students in a school setting. Understanding of various disabilities. Must be able to: (1) become MANDT certified; (2) assist in positioning of students; (3) follow prescribed medical, feeding and emergency protocols; and (4) work independently and maintain positive relationships with staff, specialists, students, and parents. Employment contingent upon fingerprinting.
Qualifications Desired: Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills strongly desired, flexible, and willing to do a variety of jobs. Relates well to students and staff. Experience with students with a variety of learning disabilities. Provide support in High School Math (Algebra, Geometry, and Algebra II). Flexible, adaptable and organized.
Classification/Location: Classified, Regular at Newberg High School
Calendar/Benefits: 7 hours per day when school is in session (7:15 – 2:45).
$15.97 - $17.72 per hour (Range SPED 7 of the 2021-22 Classified Salary Schedule, current staff consult the contract).
