JOB SUMMARY:
Safely assist school children in crossing designated dangerous intersections.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Good health, including good vision; ability to relate well to drivers and children; be dependable and punctual; work cooperatively with law enforcement employees; adhere to safety regulations such as wearing safety belt and closthing; work outdoors in deffering weather conditions; be courteous to drivers and students; carry and replenish first aid kit/bag. Flexible and willing to do a variety of jobs to meet dealines and complete all required training. Abilty to communicate with Spanish speaking students and adults preferred.
Experience: Experience working with children. Experience working with at-risk youth preferred.
Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Certification Required: Medic First Aid Card
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Assure safety of children in assined pedestrian crossing.
- Operate manually operated crossing signal at crossings where such equipment is installed.
- Record names or vehicle license numbers of violators of safety standards.
- Notify principal of any existing safety hazards.
- Maintain traffic safety equipment in good condition and provide an annual inventory.
- Cultivate and model a respectful working and learning environments.
- Ability to effectively work and communicate with students, parents, and school personnel from diverse cultures or backgrounds in English, Spanish, or other languages related to the job.

- Perform other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Language Skills:
Ability to read English. Ability to write clear and concise communications in English.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations with a high degree of accuracy.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed, but basic, written or oral instructions in English. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Ability to work collaboratively and establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, supervisor(s), staff, students, parents and community.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk and may be continuously required to stand. The employee will frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk while performing the duties of this job. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee may frequently use hand strength to grasp tools and use repetitive motion. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

Works outdoors or in school cafeteria. May encounter students with emotional problems or hostile attitudes.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Works when school is in session. Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Board policy on the evaluation of classified personnel.
CLASSIFICATION/LOCATION: Classified, Part-time position Mabel Rush Elementary
CALENDAR: 1 hours per day when school is in session 30 minutes AM and 30 minutes PM, 185-day contract.
SALARY/BENEFITS:
Salary Range 6 of the 2024-2025 Classified Wage Schedule Salary $17.08 - $21.74
