JOB DESCRIPTION:      

Serve as personnel support to affecting learning changes in students with autism spectrum disorder. Duties will include training, consultation, assessment, evaluation for eligibility, and prescription of evidence-based interventions for students with autism spectrum disorder. Work collaboratively with general education teachers to provide consultation and modeling for inclusion support for students in general education classes and provide intervention instruction as appropriate. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Knowledge of: Assessment, evaluation, and evidence based interventions for students with autism spectrum disorder. Skilled in: Supporting and affecting learning changes in students with autism spectrum disorder. Ability to: The ability to provide leadership to staff in areas of specialization. Have physical ability to train and/or assist staff in physical management of students in crisis. An excellent attitude with a strong desire to work as part of a team that puts students’ needs first. Demonstrated ability to work harmoniously with others. Demonstrate a need to grow professionally and be involved in staff development opportunities at the building and district-level. Valid Oregon driver’s license and reliable transportation for on-the-job travel. 

 

Experience:

A minimum of five years’ experience (preferred) working with school systems in roles that include instruction, identification, IEP development, data collection, case management, student behavior management, and ability to follow IDEA’s 504 procedures.

 

Education: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.

 

Certification Required: Current Oregon teaching license with Special Education Endorsement.

CLASSIFICATION:                    

Licensed, Part time, Probationary, K-21, Districtwide Position. This position may be able to be combined with another 0.5 fte position.

 

CALENDAR/BENEFITS:

4 hours per day; 190 day contract in 2023-2024, 2024-2025 TBD; contract starting in August 2024, start date TBD. Position includes 2 days for New Teacher In-Service prior to start date.

 

Salary range TBD once negotiations for 2024-2025 are complete ($23,321- $47,954.50 2023-2024 Salary Range). Newberg Public Schools pays 6% PERS contribution, provides a generous insurance cap, long-term disability, and life insurance.
